Sinopsis
Tras dos años en la cárcel, Makhaya cruza la frontera de Sudáfrica a Botsuana sin más ambición que la de encontrar un lugar tranquilo donde vivir. En la aldea de Golema Mmidi se contagia del entusiasmo de Gilbert, un agrónomo inglés con ambiciosos planes de futuro que despierta la ira del cacique local. Los problemas para Gilbert y Makhaya se agravan por una terrible sequía que asola el país y unos prejuicios tribales que se convierten en verdaderos óbices para el progreso de la aldea. Solo contarán con el apoyo de las mujeres, aunque el amor que una de ellas le profesa a Makhaya y la indiferencia de este puede poner en jaque cualquier avance. La escritora sudafricana Bessie Head es una de las autoras más conocidas y admiradas de las letras africanas, aunque nunca antes se ha traducido ninguna de sus novelas al español. De corte autobiográfico y con una prosa de gran belleza, Nubes de lluvia constituye un relato esperanzador sobre la capacidad que tiene el ser humano de enfrentarse a la arbitrariedad de las costumbres, sanar las heridas del alma y alcanzar satisfacción en los detalles sencillos de la vida.

سنبدأ بسؤال بسيط: هل يمكنك أن تخبرنا عن المنهج الذي تتبعه في الكتابة؟ هل لديك طقوس معينة؟

لا يوجد منهج، ولا توجد طقوس معينة. مع يحركني هو الشغف. أن أستطيع اقتطاع فكرة ما تعربد فى ذهنى، مطالبة بأن تُزرع على الورق. أعتقد أن فرحة الكاتب الذى ينتهي من عمل إبداعي له لا توصف. إنها دليل دامغ على أنه يستطيع فعلها، وأن يكتب كما يكتب هؤلاء العباقرة الآخرين المنثورين في أرجاء الأرض.

باختصار: كيف تصف لنا طريقة كتابتك؟

الحقيقة أنا شخص كسول جدًا. أكتب بسرعة، وأضجر من الكتابة بشكل أسرع، وهي مشكلة خانقة أحاول أن أجد حلًا لها. أشعر بالدهشة من الكتّاب الذين يخصصون عدد ساعات معين يوميًا ليكتبوا. هذا شيءٌ عظيم، لو تحقق؛ فربما سيكون إنتاجي الأدبي غزيرًا بدون شكّ، بغضّ النظر عن الجودة هنا.

البداية تكون مع فكرة. والفكرة قد تأخذ وقتًا حتى تختمر في ذهنى، أو أتعامل معها كما أتعامل مع المجهول؛ بمعنى أن أضع خيط بداية، وأقوم بسحبه دون أن أعرف ما الذى سينتهي علهي الأمر. أنت تعرف أسطورة المينوتور المحبوس في المتاهة، ومن أجل أن يخرج البطل عليه أن يضع بكرة خيط عند الباب، ثم يمسك بطرف الخيط، وينتقل في أرجاء المتاهة، حتى لا يتوه. يمكن أن تكون الفكرة كذلك. عالم مجنون يفقد فيه الكاتب بوصلته. نعم الأمر ممتع، لكن الحذر واجب!

First, briefly who is Kumi William Du Bois? What are you about?
I am a young man in my 20’s who loves words and art in a bigger perspective. From Kindergarten, I have been known as a poetry lover. I decided to start writing in my Junior High school days due to a poem I read; the poem was that of David Diop “The Vultures”. The poem really fought its way into my heart and made me start writing. I am now pursuing a Degree in communication at the Ghana Institute of Journalism. Day dreaming is one thing I cannot live without for a moment. It keeps me going and writing.

Tell us about your book and your literary style of writing. How effective do you think infusing the local language, TWI, into your poem will be to a foreigner who does not know the language?
Beautiful Africa is an anthology I published at the age of 19 with other featured poets from Ghana and the United States of America. The book is not just an anthology but an anthology with 100 literary devices. There are 20 poems in the book which 12 of those poems are mine and the remaining 8 poems are those of the featured poets. The book is available online only.
My writing style is very unique due to the way and topics I usually write about.
Poetry is the native language of the heart you don’t need an interpreter for your heart to understand the poem. Twi in Ghana is one of the most used local languages even when foreigners come to explore Ghana, they fall for the language and since I was born in this language I am very fluent in it. Infusing twi in my writing helps me to create a connection between my reader who less understand English I always have a glossary column where I explain all the local dialect  I used in the poem so this serves as a guide to the foreigner who does not understand the langue. Also doing this makes the poem more indigenous.

سنبدأ بسؤال بسيط, هل يمكنك أن تخبرنا عن المنهج الذي تتبعه في الكتابة؟ هل لديك طقوس معينة؟

لا أتبع منهجا بعينه ، أو أمارس طقسا معينا في الكتابة ؛ فما هي إلا فكرة تراودني ، وتغري عقلي ، وتلح في الإغراء إلحاحا فأقصد إلى تدوينها في رواية لا أبتغي – وقتئذ – منهجا بعينه بقدر ما أبتغي تدوين تلك الفكرة ، أو التيمة التي أعتقد صلاحيتها كرواية تستحق القراءة .

هل تبدأ بجمع المعلومات؟

جمع المعلومات التي تخدم الرواية عمل من أعمالي كروائي ، لكنني لا أبدأ بجمع المعلومات بل أبدأ في تقسيم الأحداث ، وتوزيع الشخوص ، ورسمها بريشة نفسية قبل ريشة الوصف والهيئة البيانية ، واختيار اللغة ثم تبدأ مرحلة جمع المعلومات التي تصقل العمل ، وتُضفي عليه نوعا من المصداقية التي تؤهل القاريء للاقتناع بذلك العمل .

باختصار ؛ كيف تصف لنا طريقة كتابتك ؟

الموضوع باختصار عندي كالآتي : –

فكرة تُغري عقلي وتراوده ، ثم التدوين لتلك الفكرة في بطاقة صغيرة ، وتحديد الشخوص الأساسية والثانوية التي تخوض الصراع من بدايته إلى نهايته ، ثم عمل مُخطَّط عام يليه البدء في الكتابة ،  ولابد أن تضع في اعتبارك أن العمل لا يكتمل كله في رأسي أثناء الكتابة ؛ وأحيانا لا تكون الأحداث وكذا الشخصيات مكتملة في هذا المخطط ، لكنها بالتأكيد تتبلور أثناء الكتابة ؛ فقد تتحول شخصية ثانوية – مثلا – إلى  شخصية رئيسة ، ويتم ذلك بشكل تلقائي مفاجيء دون قصد مني أو ترتيب.

ماذا كان يعني لك نشر هذا الكتاب؟

فكرة الرواية برأسي منذ فترة طويلة ، وأخذت أكتبها على فترات ، واستغرقت مني 4 سنوات ، ونشرها في كتاب كان شيئاً لا بد منه ولو بعد حين ..

برأيك ماذا سيجد القراء في روايتك؟

رغم أنني من النوع المتفائل بالحياة لكنني أدبياً أميل إلى الاكتئاب ، روايتي تظهر الحب المستحيل الذي لا سبيل للوصول إليه.. 

هذا الكتاب قد نشر مع دار كيان للنشر…كيف يسير العمل مع دار النشر؟

أعجبني فيهم مرونتهم العجيبة ، وأخلاقهم الرائعة ، وكما تعاملت معهم في مستحيلة سأتعامل معهم بشأن روايتي القادمة (رجل يكره الأحذية) إن شاء الله 

كيف كانت مبيعاتكم في معرض الكتاب الدولي ؟

لا تنس أن المنافسة في المعرض شديدة ، لكن رغم هذا والحمد لله صرت الطبعة الثانية من الرواية بعد انتهاء المعرض بثلاثة أشهر 

هل سيكون لكم حضور في معارض اخرى خارج مصر؟

Do you remember when you began reading your first book? And the latest?
Umm yes, I remember reading Rapunzel at around 11 years, then I also read a lot of short stories in junior high but it wasn’t till first year in senior high that I read my first “big” book: The Legacy of Heorot by Larry Niven, Jerry Pournelle and Steven Barnes. After that I fell in love with science fiction. My latest was Foundation by Mercedes Lackey.

We continue talking about your favourite literature now. If you had to choose some literary genre, what would it be?
I enjoy different literary genres (love it when they are mixed) but if I am to choose just one it’d be fiction. Yes, fiction with good touches of romance and fantasy.

In your country, Ghana, the poetry is in demand. However, it isn’t a frequent reading in Spain or Europe. Do you like the poetry? Why?
Yes, I love poetry. I used to read poetry only for academic purposes. I think at that time I liked poetry just because it was literature (I had always liked literature) and also I was sort of good at answering questions on it. I was reading a lot of poems from a poet friend of mine back in high school, one morning I decided to try writing one and I did! I liked the feeling it gave me so I was writing it often. Then I started doing recitals for inter-schools’ literary competitions.  I came to love poetry more because I realized it was a good way of channeling bottled up emotions. I was going through a lot of changes and poetry helped me through.

Do you usually read Ghanaian national literature or Anglo-Saxon?
Mostly I read Anglo-Saxon but I do read Ghanaian literature too.

Ama Ata Aidoo, a Ghanaian playwright and former Education Minister of Ghana

We know some books of Ghanaian novelists and poets as Roberto Gaddiel Acquaah, Ayi Kwei Armah, Nii Ayikwei Parkes, Efua Sutherland, Atukwei Okai, Amma Darko or Ama Ata Aidoo, among others authors. Do you have any Ghanaian favorite author?
Yes. I would say Ama Ata Aidoo. I really enjoyed reading her book Changes.

When you choose a book, do you always buy it in a bookstore or you take it borrow of a library?
I buy them. I’ve borrowed only two books from the library since I started reading. I love owning books.

What must you have a book to get hooked?
First it must have brown pages, hahahaha (I don’t like white pages). But more seriously, I like a book with a little bit of mystery, adventure, romance and humor (humor is must). If it has these four things, am hooked!

I do read digitally from time to time. When am looking for a book and I don’t get it, I download and read it on my phone. I am currently reading Silmarillion by J. R. R. Tolkien on my phone.

What do you think about Spanish literature? Have you read some Spanish writer?
Mmm not really. No, I don’t think I’ve had the privilege of reading from a Spanish writer yet but I would be glad if you could suggest one for me.

Finally, what book would you recommend to followers of this site?
Umm I recently read Suzanne Brockmann’s Forces of nature. I think it’s a good book to read. She has humor and she writes romance well.

ماهو دورك كناشر؟

الناشر صانع أمة وحضارة بالأساس، قبل أن يكون صانع كتب. فما المقصود من طبع الورق وتوصيله إلى الناس غير نقل الفِكر والأدب والفن والثقافة والمعرفة إلى عقول الناس بما يؤهلهم لبناء حضارة قائمة على الإنسان الواعي القادر على تغيير أوضاع مجتمعه ونقله من الجهالة إلى الحداثة ورفع وعيه الجمعيّ إلى مستوى الإبداع والتميز بين الأمم

وأنا كناشر خرج من رحم ثورات الربيع العربي التي قادها وتقدم صفوفها شباب العرب بهدف واحد هو نقل أمتنا العربية من الانحدار الفكري والعلمي والفني والإنساني الذي وصلت إليه بعد تسلُّط عدد من الحكَّام المستبدّين المعتمدين على إفقار وتجهيل شعوبهم وتجريف خيرات بلا دهم خنوعًا للقوى العظمى المتحكمة في مصائر الشعوب الفقيرة

أحمل كل ذلك على عاتقي، واثقًا منذ اللحظةا لأولى أن التنوير هو أهم ما يحتاجه الشعب العربي الكبير، مؤمنًا دوري  أن أصل لهم بمضامين أدبية وإبداعية وتثقيفية تحقق الوعي الكافي للنهوض بهذه الأمة، مؤكِّدًا أن هذا الجيل الربيعي هو من سيحقق ذلك بنفسه بعدما عجز الجيل السابق عليه عن استكمال أحلامه التي داسها المستبدون فانكسر مع طموحاته وانهزم مثلها وذاب في رغبة ورؤية الأنظمة القمعية التي قهرت ذاته في ذاتها

نبدأ مع روايتك الطيبيّون الّتي ستنشر قريباً جدّاً عن دار الربيع العربي للنشر، ولكن ممكن أن تقول لنا متى ستنشرها؟ أيّ تاريخ؟

غالباً في غضون شهر مارس.. الدار انهمكت في معرض الإسكندرية لكن خلال أيام ستصدر الرواية وتوزّع في المكتبات 

هل ستنشرها بالكتاب الورقي فقط؟

بالطبع ستطرحها دار النشر إلكترونياً لمن يرغب في شرائها أو تحميلها كملف (بي دي إف)

أمّا العنوان فهو مهمّ جدا، هل كان صعب اختياره؟

كان العنوان صعباً للغاية، ففي البداية الموضوع يدور داخل “طيبة” القديمة وداخل “الأقصر” الجديدة في تواز، ثانياً حاولت كثيراً البحث عن عنوان آخر، لكنني أخفقت، فقرّرت أن يكون هذا هو العنوان هو النهائي للرواية

Su libro Período (بِريود) fue el más vendido de la Editorial Primavera Árabe en la Feria Internacional del Libro El Cairo 2014. ¿Cómo recibió la noticia?
Sin duda, mi felicidad era indescriptible. Sobre todo porque desde que la editorial lo publicó en la Feria del Libro del último año (febrero de 2013) todavía sigue demandándose mucho, a pesar de transcurrir un año, así que estoy muy contento.

Usted firmó su novela con la Editorial Primavera Árabe para la publicación y distribución en la Feria Internacional del Libro El Cairo. ¿Cómo fue su experiencia como escritor en dicho evento?
Siempre asisto a la Feria del Libro para comprar algunos libros y acceder a las últimas ediciones y novedades de las editoriales de cada año y también para ver la calidad de los libros y las portadas que siempre transmiten nuevas ideas. Este año, en mi opinión, la Feria fue un gran éxito. Me di cuenta de la afluencia de un gran número de visitantes y también la publicación de varios libros de un gran grupo de jóvenes escritores y otros libros publicados en inglés. En mi opinión, es una excelente cita para aumentar la conciencia cultural y aumentar el número de los creadores y los interesados ​​en la lectura y la escritura.

كانت مجموعتك القصصية «بِريود« الأعلى مبيعًا في جناح الربيع العربي بمعرض القاهرة الدولي 2014، كيف تسلّمت الخبر؟

بالطبع كانت سعادتي لا توصف خاصة وأن المجموعة صدرت في معرض الكتاب في العام الماضي (فبراير 2013) وبالرغم من مرور عام كامل إلا أنها مازالت تحقق نسبة قراءة عالية وهو شيء يسعدني جدا.

قمتَ بتوقيع روايتك مع دار الربيع العربي للنشر والتوزيع فى معرض القاهرة الدولى للكتاب، كيف كانت تجربة زيارتك للمعرض ككاتب؟

أحرص دائما على زيارة معرض الكتاب كل عام لشراء الكتب والاطلاع على أحدث الإصدارات ودور النشر الجديدة وأيضا لمراقبة نوعية الكتب والأغلفة التي تحمل أفكارا جديدة. وهذا العام في رأيي كان المعرض ناجحا إلى حد كبير. لاحظت توافد أعداد كبيرة من الزوار وأيضا صدر العديد من الكتب لمجموعة كبيرة من الكتاب الشباب وغيرهم وصدرت أيضا بعض الكتب باللغة الإنجليزية. وفي رأيي هذا دليل على زيادة الوعي الثقافي وزيادة عدد المبدعين والمهتمين بالقراءة والكتابة.
